Last Saturday at Eastern Market, I hung out with the director and playwright of the play I’m stage managing, Colored Lives. I wanted to share with you only a smidgen of my day just to encourage you to support local businesses and artisans. Read the rest of this entry
God is Great, Beer is Good, People are Crazy… Part II
I spent the day reminiscing about falling in love with my soul mate. I was walking through mist and dreams already. Then I went to meet with him and he took me on a too-short tour of a gem of a sweet spot in Dupont Circle.
How wonderful it is to meet kindred spirits or in this case, see how they live. I walked into this house and immediately knew that I could live here for the rest of my life. Can we say eccentric?!
God is Great, Beer is Good, People are Crazy… Part 1
We were listening to this song on our way home yesterday from an eventful adventure out with the baby. It reminded me of a date we had gone on a few years back. Sean and I sat at a bar and laughed with an old man who shared with us his woes of giving his money to a younger woman. I had an awesome night just hanging out at the bar with that crazy old man and my then boyfriend. But then again, Read the rest of this entry
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
What’s Today, Anyway?
I barely could roll out of bed this morning. Between half sleepy kids chanting “Can I have some yogurt” through my door and the thought of all the special things to celebrate today, I felt heavy and drained before I even opened my eyes.
What’s that? What’s today you ask? Can you take a guess? What do we celebrate every year on March 17th?
Yes! Its National Corn Dog Day!
Community Meeting Spaces
Its been a long while since I’ve attended a serious neighborhood meeting to discuss plans and policies. I find them interesting and informative. But then they get emotional, typically charged by race and age differences. I find myself wanting to stand up and say something most politically incorrect. I usually want to respond to people who use such statements like “this is the way we’ve always done it.” Read the rest of this entry
Stomping Grounds
Today I decided to visit a very special place to me… Dance Place, where the arts work and play!
I learned how to be a theater technician here. It was one of those times in my life where I was reinventing myself and changing everything about my lifestyle. There were some very challenging experiences and lessons during this season of my life but like all lessons great and small, beneficial to my personal growth.
Saturday Morning ZZzzzzz’s
Sleeping in late? Stretched across the bed? Getting in those zzzzz’s because Friday night was crazy insane fun? Yeah, I once enjoyed those sleep-in mornings. The last one I remember was in 1996 B.C. (Before Children). Read the rest of this entry
2 days after Valentine’s Day?
2 days after Valentine’s Day? I’m sure you know a disgruntle somebody who didn’t get a SweetTart. Luckily, its Do A Grouch A Favor Day! http://ow.ly/8XzbE
Reading, Writing, A Story
Today was a bit wet and grey, my favorite kind of day. I love taking it easy to slowly ease out of the bed, ease into the kitchen and drink my tea on cool, wet, grey days. Its wonderful to snuggle up and be in love on rainy days, right? If its a warm grey day, I like to go outside and splash in the puddles with my kids, walk without the umbrella, hold hands and be in love. Well, today, this fine grey day, I did not ease out of bed, slowly sip tea, snuggle, splash, or hold hands. I did talk a lot about being in love.
I volunteered at our local library to read the morning story time books. It was my first day! And since Valentine’s Day is coming up, we read books about LOVE.
